Walking School Bus

Children at Fairhope Elementary School have an opportunity to walk to school every day, starting from a single meeting location. The students enjoy outdoor recreation and socialization, learn safe walking skills, and arrive at school ready to focus. Committed volunteers, parents, teachers and sponsors make the Walking School Bus possible.

Fairhope is proud to be the first city in Alabama to have a daily Walking School Bus. Organized walks to school benefit the entire community by reducing traffic congestion and air pollution associated with long car lines, and teaching children healthy habits.

Want to volunteer, start a walking program at another school, or be a sponsor? Contact Charlene Lee at walkingschoolbusfes@gmail.com or call 251-402-2795.
